    Darrel, Darrel…

    Darrel Hair

Darrel Hair continues to find new and innovative tactics to find his way on to cricketing headlines. Darrel just can’t seem to keep away from the limelight. The new and improved Darrel is trying to sue the Pakistani Cricket Board and the ICC (International Cricket Board) for alleged racial discrimination. No mean feat you say? Not in Darrel’s books. If I remember correctly, this is the same individual who tried to bribe the ICC for 500 thousand dollars last year.

In raising this very contentious issue, I’d like to point out that I am not having a dig at Darrell’s ability to umpire but more so his credibility as an umpire. An umpire that represents the whole cricketing fraternity. This is simply another scam where Darrel will do his utmost to weasel funds from the ICC and the Pakistani Cricket Board.

I’m not sure what the average pay for an umpire is these days but it does not seem to be enough for our good friend Darrel. I’ve said it before and I will say it again. Shame, Shame Darrel! He should be banned from umpiring and sent into early retirement. He is a money hungry individual that is bringing the game into disrepute.

He had effergies of himself burned by Pakistani's, so he;s understandibly feeling a little unloved.

I would hardly say he's bringing the game into disrepute (theres a now meaningless cliche if there ever was one), but umpires suing governing bodies isn't exactly great publicity.

Perhaps he should be suspended from international duty for a while to cool down.

Any vague possibilities of him returning as an umpire at the top level must have evaporated after this little piece of genius from Hair or his lawyers. In the unlikely event that he is successful he would want to hope that the pay off covers the absence of any earnings from umpiring for the next 10 years.

Isn't it funny how the media portrays the burning of effigies? If ten people burn effigies, it seems as though the whole country is burning effigies.

He should definitely be suspended though and maybe even go into counselling for a little while, the poor guy has lost his marbles.

If ten people or a thousand people do it, it's still a representation of hate - and if a state allows their citizens to do it - then it become a nationally condoned representation of hate, even without media spin.

I don't doubt that it is a symbol of hate but the truth can be skewed to suit the needs of the viewer. Its propaganda and its very much a part of our existence.

Darrell definitely knows how to play his part.

It seems we reprimand players on a regular basis but now it is time to police the police.
