    Ashes whitewash!

    November 13th 2006 09:07
In a couple of week’s time Australia and England will resume their battle for the Ashes in Brisbane. It’s hard to believe that the baggy green are actually looking to win it back this time. Under Steve Waugh they managed to win 9 Ashes series in a row before faltering to an emerging English side last year. Undoubtedly one of the biggest rivalries in world sport, the battle against the old enemy will be fuelled with controversy.

England played their first tour match against the Prime minister’s XI and there was absolutely nothing to write home about. They were convincingly out played in every facet of the game and look beaten before the Ashes series has begun. Injury plagued and without key players from their last win in Jones and Vaughan. It’s hard to see a younger and very much inexperienced English side win on Australian soil. Although I’m very much backing the Aussies in this one, I’m hoping a contest evolves and not another whitewash that seems apparent.

Recently both Justin Langer and Damien Martyn have been under scrutiny due to their age and the possibility of not being able to perform on the world stage. I find that to be quite a ridiculous summary of two players who have consistently performed and both average over 45 in test cricket. The Aussies are still the one’s to beat and it could be that way for years to come, form and age cannot be compared until Langer or Martyn start failing.

The ashes will deliver a fascinating contest, hopefully one that lives up to the last series where England narrowly overcame a raging Shane Warne.

    Sachin Tendulkar’s Bio

    November 6th 2006 11:25
I was doing a bit of surfing on the net and found this great video on Sachin Tendulkar and his career to date, its great watching for any cricket lover. I’m actually one of his biggest fans and follow his career with great intent.

Interesting to note that in the video, Gavaskar another Indian great very much believed that Tendulkar would end up making 15,000 test runs, quoted in 2001. As it stands he has amassed 10469 runs and it’s fair to say he’s probably coming to the end of an exceptional career. I guess the most remarkable aspect of Gavaskar’s comment was that it was very much believable at the time because Tendulkar was at the peak of his powers almost invincible at the batting crease. Since then he has been plagued with injury and played sporadically within the Indian Team.

Be warned the video is quite long (23 mins) although the commentary and the speakers epitomise the type of player he has been over the years.

    The Chase

    The Chase
Banished, wiped out, waiting for the dead to arrive and walk him through his most rudest awakening, all the while thinking of her, his most precious. A love that began beyond this life one full of mortality. He stared down through the thundering darkness, not knowing how far the drop, or what was waiting below. He knew this was his last chance. Should he turn back to search for what was once his deepest pleasure or should he let go? He started to slip forward and before he knew it, he had plunged forward only to realise that this could be the beginning of the end.

He was to leave behind a life that had given him so much. The perfect job, a wife that never left his side, but it was time, he needed answers? As he hit the water these were the only thoughts that could drown him. The icy cold water sliced into his skin as he sank to the bottom. As the bed of seaweed scraped his foot he rebounded back to the surface gasping for breath. No. Death was not an option. The torch light was still moving around at the cliff top. If he could reach the rocks he may still be a chance. Diving into the water with one last gasp he was able to swim towards the rocks. Scrambling to his feet he heard gun shots, they had seen him!

He could feel he's bare feet trembling as he felt the sharpness of each rock, his heart pounding with each step but he had to continue until they stopped firing. Reaching the top of the rocks he ran on to the road hoping that someone would see him. A truck was approaching but would it stop and pick him up? He's clothes were damp, he hadn't shaved in weeks, feeling the thickness of his beard, what had he become? The truck roared past without stopping, who in their right mind would want to pick up a stranger, a stranger without a destination. He had no option but to keep on running. Running over to the other side of the road, running straight into the woods, the chase would continue.

The shots kept coming as he ran for hours, or maybe it was days, it definitely felt like days. He's feet were blistered, aching with the many wounds of his past. A past deterred with emotions and the loss of those who were so very close to him. The shots finally stopped. He's run turned into a gaping crawl. Eventually he found a bed of leaves where he rested, mentally and physically depleted. They had stopped chasing him the night had bought him salvation. He would now wait, for daylight would bring the challenge of survival.

    What's your shopping trip limit?

    November 3rd 2006 01:35
My heart began to race. Ideas started flying around my head. "I want to be her!" my mind screamed. These are sentiments I had when I found out a friend planned to spend $1500 on a day of shoe shopping! Now let me say, she's a lovely person and probably deserves $1.5K worth of new shoes but the thing that separates Nat from me is that she's got the courage to go out and spend that much. I'm envious of the huge shopping weekend that the girls have planned and I guess it's lucky I was too busy to join them. But even if I did, I'd probably come away light-handed (in comparison) and depressed.

This got me to thinking, I wonder what the most amount anyone (normal, we're not talking millionaire heiresses here) could spend on light shopping in a day. The most I've ever done was about 2 grand, but that was on a suit that happened to be 75% off for my lovely bf. But on shoes! WOW.

    The 100 Millionth Website

    November 2nd 2006 06:37
A lot of you reading this post will have noticed the title and thought wow, is there really 100 million websites?? The answer is ‘yes there is’. The Internet has changed the way we communicate, the way we advertise, the way we do business and most importantly the way we advocate our opinions, beliefs and passions.

How long do you spend on the Internet?? I’m in Online Marketing and spend about 6 hours on average at work and then come home and spend at least an hour or two more on extra curricular activities. My life is embedded in the web. Sounds a little sad but I would assume that a lot of my fellow blogers have a similar life story
